Berserk fan

I’ve been a long time Berserk fan. It’s the best comic ever. Okay, that’s my opinion, but a majority of people would probably agree. Not too many girls would like it since it has a lot of dark themes and a lot of violence. In fact, the first time I saw it, I spotted the first page and I was like, “WTF?” I then skipped it and went for something else. But I found it again a year later and gave it another chance, and have been hooked since. I really find Guts to be relatable, and Griffith, who you can hate so easily, can still be somehow likeable.

Miura has been churning out chapters a little more lately, woot! Although it is slow… The group has not reached the Elf Kingdom yet, and it’s probably been 2 or 3 years since I’ve anticipated it. But I’m loyal, through and through! I’ve been collecting the graphic novels sporadically because I never get tired of rereading it, even though the books aren’t in order… Hopefully, he won’t take a longish break again, but I understand how long it takes to draw comics.. Not to mention the details he puts in using pen and ink…. In any case, I’m doing a lot of fanart nowadays, huh? Well, other than because of the convention, I wanted to do something for this series for a long time. This and Blade of the Immortal, but I won’t have time to get to it.

Gut’s armor is omega complicated to look at.. I had to sketch it out separately before I understood what the faceted shapes were. But this sort of reminded me of me Thrall drawing… Whose armor wasn’t really hard to draw, but hard to find reference for. Well, I drew it as best I could understand it.

Life Drawing sketches at Church and fanart

Perhaps it’s been ages since I last posted life drawing sketches. Trying to practice more often. Truthfully, I didn’t plan to attend Catholic mass and if I did, it would be to save my parents face from unwanted gossip among other Vietnamese church-goers. Now, I’m just going to practice my life drawing. As long as I’m attending mass, the old people won’t be complaining to me, will they? I suppose it’s better to practice Rest day in some way than none at all. Though the lord is with me all the time.

And also, I didn’t realize that someone might like my Sailormoon fanart, so I decided to do the rest of the inner senshi. Enjoy. I haven’t done fanart in a really long time; it’s really far from my mind, but I think Sailor Moon holds a very dear place in my heart even though I’m older and 22, and in 6 months will be 23. She was one of the reasons I’m totally in love with drawing. Anyway, yeah. And business cards came. Whoot!

Anime Expo LACC South Hall Doors aka Exhibit Hall entrance

Missing the last three panels because my camera died right when I clicked it… sigh… Oh well. I didn’t realize that the camera didn’t take it until too late. Well, these are good resume builders aren’t they? I didn’t quite realize that Zelda Wang’s copyright on the characters were still there, so maybe some people think she did them..? haha.. I wouldn’t be surprised, but I didn’t know you could modify the mascots really. In the end, they belong to AX. I knew this when I signed up. One thing to add though, is that I value hard work so any effort I put in is genuine. Like… all art assignments that I get, I put in a lot of effort. It took me a long time to put all these together, and that’s why I’m so proud. 😀

On the other hand, I care about my own creations a lot, so I’m skeptical about putting them on for show online. >< I shouldn’t be scared though, I guess you gotta take chances, right?

Anime Expo and related things

So I’ve gone to Anime Expo on Thursday and Saturday. It wasn’t too bad this year, I think there was only 34,000 attendees on day 2 or exceeds that, but last year was over 41,000 people. I know it was because of SKIN. I had no idea who the other guests of honors were besides the Pokemon director, in which I don’t remember his name. But I did see Shokotan in concert, I didn’t know who she was, but she’s so cute. Energetic Japanese girls are cute, if they’re too sweet, it’s over doing it sometimes… Her singing was okay, but I’m not sure if it was her natural voice sometimes, because it would have a distinct “low” key that some Japanese singers do…. I dunno. I only saw the last 10 minutes.. haha… we ended up going to eat and then to a room to pick up tickets, but no one was there to give it to me and my friend, so we left because they said it was being passed out. Sometimes… It gets so disorganized and shifty…. sigh..

I’m kind of changing my taste in music, some j-rockers like dir en grey don’t even appeal to me anymore, as for Miyavi, he’s still good eye-candy but I don’t like his style all too much. Yoshiki will probably be well liked for a long time though because he does elegant classical music. I’m a huge Goldfrapp fan now, they make me wanna dance~! And they always have crazy-cool music videos.

Anyway, I saw my banners at the exhibit hall doors — I was so proud… It was great to see my hard work paid off, y’know? And there was also the bg for the custom photos that the AX photographer was doing. Whatever was cute was mine. Haha… it seems that I can do cute things quite well and effortlessly. I’ll upload my work when I have some more free time.

Speaking of cute, one of my friends bought a panda hat at a vendor. They’re expensive, but sooooo adorable. Price does vary with whatever kind you get…. wish I could buy one, but I’ve splurged on other things all ready, when you’re a college student, everything is must be done in moderation….
